BIO & RESUME
Lisa graduated from Colorado State University, with a BFA in Graphic Design. She studied under professors Phil Risbeck and John Sorbie, award-winning international poster designers. After working as a designer and illustrator in Denver, San Francisco and Seattle, she pursued her passion for “en plein air” landscapes, encaustic painting, oil and cold wax abstracts, mixed media collage, art assemblage and photography.
Her love of Latino folk art, the worn surfaces she finds in Mexico, lively color, patterns and shapes in the streets of San Miguel de Allende…all permeate Lisa’s work. Time spent in nature experiencing "genius loci", or spirit of place, is the order of the day for Lisa when she’s searching for inspiration for her paintings and monoprints.
Lisa’s works are part of private collections in the Pacific Northwest, Midwest, East Coast of the United States, as well as Mexico. Her works have been exhibited in the United States, Mexico and Canada. She has had her work published in encaustiZINE (Winter 2018-2019), The Pulse of Mixed Media: 100 Artists Revealed (North Light Books), Cloth•Paper•Scissors, Somerset Studio, Somerset’s Life Images, Somerset Workshop and IndieArts DVD magazines. Lisa currently teaches encaustic and mixed media art workshops in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
